An equation of state for nonaqueous electrolyte solutions

Image
ABSTRACT: A two parameters equation of state (EOS) for nonaqueous electrolyte solutions system has been developed. The equation is in terms of Helmholtz free energy and incorporated with results of low density expansion of non-primitive mean spherical approximation. The EOS was tested for experimental data reported in literatures of 9 nonaqueous single electrolyte solutions of which the temperature was 298.15K, and it also has a good predictive capability for nonaqueous electrolyte solutions at different temperature in this work. The comparasions with EOSs published earlier by other researchers in literatures are carried out in detail. Development and Validation of HPTL Method for Estimation of Carvedilol Phosphate in Bulk and Pharmaceutical Dosage Form

Image
ABSTRACT: A simple, accurate, and precise HPTLC method has been developed and validated for the estimation of Carvedilol Phosphate (CP) from bulk drug and tablet formulations The method employed TLC aluminum plates precoated with silica gel 60 GF 254 as the stationary phase. The solvent system comprised n-hexane: ethyl acetate: methanol (3:5:2 v/v/v) This system was found to give good result for Carvedilol (Rf value: 0.36cm). Spectrodensitometric scanning integration was performed at a wavelength of 243nm.The calibration curve was found to be linear within the concentration range of 100ng/spot to 200ng/spot. The regression data for calibration curve shows good linear relationship with r2 = 0.990. The method was validated in accordance with the requirements of ICH guidelines. The method was successfully applied for determination of drug in tablets, wherein no interference from tablets excipients was observed, indi...

Ultrasonic studies of molecular interaction of octanol and decanol with nonpolar solvents

ABSTRACT : Ultrasound speed (u), density (ρ) and viscosity (η) have been measured for pure liquids and their binary mixtures formed from 1-octanol, and 1-decanol with non-polar solvents like toluene, carbon tetrachloride, benzene and dioxane at 301 K covering the entire mole fraction range of n-alcohols. From the experimental data, adiabatic compressibility ( β ) ,intermolecular free length (Lf), acoustic impedance (Z), have been computed. These parameters are used to discuss the nature and extent of intermolecular interactions between the component molecules. The experimental values have been correlated using Nomotos, Ideal mixture, Jungies, Impedence and Rao’s relations.  Home Page URL : http://www.jocpr.com/ For more details PDF Link :  http://www.jocpr.com/articles/ultrasonic-studies-of-molecular-interaction-of-octanol-and-decanol-with-nonpolar-solvents.pdf

Resourceful synthesis of narrative cyano pyridines

Image
ABSTRACT : Synthesis and organic movement of new derivatives of 2-amino-6-(4-substitutedphenyl)-4-(2-butyl-4-chloro-1Himidazol-5-yl)pyridine-3-carbonitriles (4a-g) was achieved (E)-1-(substitutedphenyl)-3-(2-butyl-4-chloro-1Himidazol-5-yl)prop-2-en-1-one, malononitrile, ammonium acetate and methanol with reflux for 8hours. Reaction mass was cooled to room temperature, poured on to crushed ice and neutralized. Obtained solid was filtered and was with methanol to give pure product. It were supported by FTIR, NMR and mass spectra data.   Home Page URL : http://www.jocpr.com/ For more details PDF Link :  http://www.jocpr.com/articles/resourceful-synthesis-of-narrative-cyano-pyridines.pdf

Synthesis, structural Investigations studies on symmetrically substituted metal (II) 1,3,8,10,15,17,22,24-octa-1-(3-nitrophenyl) methaniminephthalocyanine

Image
ABSTRACT : Present paper discuss the synthesis and characterization of metal (II) 1, 3, 8, 10, 15, 17, 22, 24-octa-1-(3-nitro phenyl)methaniminephthalocyanines(M-NPhImPcO) (M = Cu, Co, Ni, Zn) by an efficient, simple, and novel method. Octaamino metal (II) phthalocyanines were synthesized by the reduction of the corresponding nitro phthalocyanines. The dark green octa-1-(3-nitrophenyl) methaniminephthalocyanine derivatives were characterized by elemental analysis, magnetic susceptibility, electronic, IR and powder X-ray diffraction studies to check the purity, structural integrity and crystalline properties of the complexes. Magnetic susceptibility studies on Co (II) and Cu (II) octa-1-(3-nitrophenyl) methaniminephthalocyanine complexes exhibit a variation of the magnetic moments as a function of field strength indicating the presence of inter molecular co-operative effect. Terpolymerization of 2-hydroxyacetophenone, catechol and formaldehyde and its thermal studies

Image
ABSTRACT : The copolymer has been synthesized by the polycondesation technique of 2-hydroxyacetophenone with catechol and formaldehyde in the presence of 2M HCl as a catalyst. The copolymer has been characterized by UV-visible, IR and 1H NMR spectra. The thermal decomposition behavior of new copolymer was studied using thermogravimetric analysis in air atmosphere. Thermal decomposition curves are discussed with careful attention to minute details. The freeman-Carroll and Sharp-Wentworth methods have been used to calculate activation energy and thermal stability. Thermal activation energy (Ea) calculated with the help of these methods are in agreement with each other. Thermodynamic parameters such as free energy change (∆F), entropy change (∆S), Apparent entropy change(S*) and frequency factor Z are also determined on the basis of TG curves and by using data of the FreemanCarroll method. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was used to establish the surface morphology and nature of...

Effect of Acacia catechu on intestinal absorption of glucose in rats

Image
ABSTRACT : Effect of Acacia catechu on intestinal absorption of glucose was evaluated using ethyl acetate extract of black catechu, a product obtained from the heart wood of the plant in an in vivo model in rats. Two doses of 250 mg/kg and 500 mg/kg of the test substance given orally produced significant reduction of glucose absorption when compared with the control group, Presence of tannins and flavonoids in the extract could be responsible for reduction in the glucose absorption by affecting the Na+ , K+ ATPases, the pumps providing the driving force for glucose entry inside the intestinal epithelium.
