Allium cepa: A traditional medicinal herb and its health benefits

ABSTRACT: Allium cepa is highly valued for its therapeutic properties. It has been used as a food remedy from time immemorial.Research shows that onions may help guard against many chronic diseases. That's probably because onions contain generous amounts of the flavonoid quercetin. Studies have shown that quercetin protects against cataracts, cardiovascular disease, and cancer. In addition, onions contain a variety of other naturally occurring chemicals known as organosulfur com-pounds that have been linked to lowering blood pressure and cholesterol levels.Although rarely used specifically as a medicinal herb, the onion has a wide range of beneficial actions on the body and when eaten (especially raw) on a regular basis will promote the general health of the body. The bulb is anthelmintic, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, antispasmodic, carminative, diuretic, expectorant, febrifuge, hypoglycaemic, hypotensive, lithontripic, stomachic and tonic. When used regularly in the diet ...

Knowing How Each Atom Moves in Real-Time During Chemical Reactions

ABSTRACT: The Raman Effect occurs when light impinges upon a molecule and interacts with the electron cloud and the bonds of that molecule. Raman spectroscopy is commonly used in chemistry, since vibrational information is specific to the chemical bonds and symmetry of molecules. It therefore provides a fingerprint by which the molecule can be identified.A new spectroscopy technique to uncover the precise sequence of atomic movements and structural changes that occur during complex chemical transformations. GFP involves a classic intermolecular proton transfer reaction to produce its fluorescent form. This happens on an ultra fast timescale - from 10 femtoseconds to 10 picoseconds. To perform structural measurements and determine the mechanism and pathway of any reaction occurring in this time range by using femtosecond stimulated Raman spectroscopy (FSRS). A great deal was known about the kinetics of the proton transfer reaction but little was known about the actual complexity ...

Physicochemical properties and stability of melanin from black tea leaves

ABSTRACT : Melanin is a natural pigment with great development potential as a healthful food colorant. In this paper, melanin from black tea leaves was extraction and purification and its physicochemical properties and stability were investigated. The experimental results showed that melanin was insoluble in both water and common organic solvents. It dissolved only in alkali aqueous solution and precipitated acidic aqueous solution (pH < 3). Melanin was gradually oxidative bleached by oxidant and was stable to reducer. These physicochemical properties were very similar to those of the melanin reported in the previous studies. Melanin had good resistance to light decomposition and heating treatment. Therefore, melanin from black tea leaves could be further used as a natural food colorant. Wireless Sensor Network Factor Information Control Based on Genetic Algorithm

ABSTRACT : The separate situation of research has area coverage or target coverage in wireless sensor networks. Based on directional sensing model , the algorithm used the virtual potential field to make the sensor nodes shift positions and change directions automatically in monitoring area. Coverage on multiple targets is mainly in the quality of coverage and network service system. Coverage for multi-objective design is a multi-objective genetic algorithm to solve multi-objective optimization problem. Thinning algorithm can be found in the border region of the demand point for sparse areas which needs to make the search more uniform distribution of the solution. The operator introduces the compound of crossing two operators and a uniform mixing of the single point to make an analog binary search function be weak cross defects, and gives proof of the convergence of the algorithm by simulation to verify the effectiveness of the algorithm. Synthesis of 3-hydroxy desloratadine, the hydroxyl metabolite of loratadine

ABSTRACT : Allergic rhinitis (AR) is an IgE-mediated disease that can impact the quality of life and work of affected individuals. Antihistamines were introduced more than 50 years ago for the treatment of AR. They can be classified into three groups. First-generation antihistamines such as promethazine and ketotifen are clinically effective, but they have a considerably limited use by their sedative and anticholinergic effects. Second-generation antihistamines such as cetirizine, loratadine1 and mizolastine have significantly fewer sedative and anticholinergic effects than first-generation. New generation antihistamines include fexofenadine, levocetirizine, desloratadine2 and rupatadine. While many of these agents were largely devoid of CNS (central nervous system) side effects, their tendency for drug-drug interactions (e.g., terfenadine and astemizole) resulted in an increase incidence of cardiotoxicity. Furthermore, some of the second-generation H1 antagonists exhibited weak...

Design of fuzzy rules switching-based fuzzy PID controller of underwater robots

ABSTRACT : In order to precisely control move of underwater robots, the fuzzy PID dual-mode controller based on fuzzy rules switching is invented, combining the conventional fuzzy controller and the more precise PID controller. Fuzzy rules are switched on the basis of different moves of underwater robots. The new controller has been conducted simulation and field experiments on underwater synthetic explored robots. The experiments show that, with pragmatic design and good dynamic performance like traditional controllers, the new controller improves precision while reduces overshoot. It also has good robustness when dealing with uncertainty of the model and external disturbances. On the whole, it has higher pragmatic value. Single stranded conformation polymorphisms (SSCP) was employed to analyze diversity level and dynamic changes of marine fouling eukaryotic communities adhering to different coatings during different sampling time (day 2, 4, 6, 9 and 14). The results indicated that composition, distribution and diversity level of marine fouling eukaryotic microbial community presented obviously di...

Theoretical study of Sb-doped Se90In10 glassy system

ABSTRACT : The effect of antimony (Sb) addition in SeIn glassy system is theoretically studied, and important physical properties, such as average coordination number, lone pair electrons, fragility parameter, heat of atomization, mean bond energy and optical band gap are evaluated in addition to thermal stability. The values of average coordination number and heat of atomization were found to increase with increasing Sb content, while the other properties were in decrease. By adding more Sb atoms, the glassy system becomes less stable thermally. According to the number of zero-frequency mode per atom, which was in decrease, the Phillips’-Thorpe threshold cannot be realized for the considered glassy system.
