Solubilization of phosphate by Bacillus Sps, from groundnut rhizosphere (Arachishypogaea L)

ABSTRACT: The phosphate solubilizing microorganisms were isolated from the groundnut rhizosphere soil. The isolated colony were confirmed as Bacillus subtilis and Bacillus cereus. The effect of different pH, temperature, carbon sources, nitrogen sources, potash sources on the phosphate solubilization was optimized. Maximum solubilization was recorded at temperature range 400C.Screening of phosphate solubilizing bacteria was done in Bacillus subtilis, Bacillus cereus in both solid & liquid medium..Bacillus subtilis is the most efficient for phosphate solubilizing activity, at pH 7, Carbon sources [0.35+0.02]Nitrogen sources sources[0.28+0.03]Potash sources[0.12+0.09] strains on the basis of their phosphate solubilizing activity. Evaluation of phytochemical and elemental contents of Haematostaphis barteri leaves and stem bark in Hong local government area of Adamawa state, Nigeria

ABSTRACT: Phytochemical and elemental constituents of leaves and stem bark of Haematostaphis barteri was determined in ten locations in Hong Local Government Area of Adanawa state. Quantitative methods were used for the phytochemical determination. Tannins and Saponins were observed in the entire samples investigated. Alkaloids were present in the leaves while flavonoids were recorded in the stem bark. Glycoside was not observed in the samples by the method used. The elemental compositions were determined by Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS). Essential elements (Na, K, Mg and Ca) and heavy metals (Cu, Zn, and Cd) were recorded in the samples observed. There was no significance difference (p≤0.05) in terms of essential elements and heavy metal contents among the 10 locations investigated. Synthesis, characterization and biological evaluation of novel binary and mixed ligand complexes of phosphonformic acid

ABSTRACT: A new series of binary and mixed ligand complexesof Ni (II), Cu (II), and Zn (II) with phosphonoformic acid (PFA) a base ligand are studied. The structure of these complexes was identified and confirmed by elemental analysis, molar conductivity, FT-IR and magnetic susceptibility. PFA and their derivatives play an important role in biological processes. It is potential chelating agent and a very active in controlling HIV diseases. Complexes of transition metals ions Ni, Cu, and Zn with primary ligand PFA and secondary ligands (alanine, phenyl-alanine, ethylenediamine, 1, 10-penanthroline, oxalic acid and malonic acid) were carried out and tested for biological activity on Eleucine Coracana (ragi), anti-microbial activity on Staphylococcus-aureus, Bacillus subtilis, Escherichia coli and klebsiella pneumoniae. Antimicrobial substances of potential biomedical importance from Babylonia zeylanica

ABSTRACT: The present study has been aimed to ascertain the antimicrobial activity of extracts from B. zeylanica, against various pathogenic bacterial and fungal strains using the agar disc diffusion method and the most probable antimicrobial compound by GC-MS study. The crude methanolic extract of B. zeylanica the range varied from 6mm to 15mm. Of the five column chromatographic fractions, maximum number of pathogens was inhibited by F4 and F5 fractions and the highest activity was exhibited against A. hydrophila (9mm) and the least against V.cholerae 0139 (3mm) in F4 fraction and in F5 against E.coli and S.typhi (9mm) and V.cholerae classical (4mm) respectively. MIC of F4 fraction showed maximum inhibitory zone against A. hydrophila (8mm) at 100mg concentration and at the same concentration in F5 fraction S. typhi and E.coli (8mm) respectively. Controlled release tablet formulations of carvedilol

ABSTRACT: The present investigation was undertaken with an objective of formulating controlled release (CR) oral matrix tablet formulations of Carvedilol (CAR), an antihypertensive using cellulose ether polymer, Hydroxy Propyl Methyl Cellulose (HPMC K4M, HPMC K15M) of different viscosity grades as drug release retardants. The tablets were prepared by direct compression technique and evaluated for various physico-chemical/mechanical parameters. Based on the viscosity and gel formation during dissolution, HPMC K4M was selected as release retardant. Assessment and correlation analysis of surface and ground water of Amaravathi river basin-Karur, Tamilnadu, India

ABSTRACT: The present study has been made to evaluate the current status of physico-chemical contaminants and their sources in surface and groundwater of Amaravathi river basin. 33 water samples including 11 surface water samples and 22 groundwater samples were collected from different location of Amaravathi river basin during November 2011. The physico-chemical parameters such as pH, EC, TDS, TH, TA, NO3, SO4, PO4, Na, K, Ca, Mg, Cl and F have been analyzed. The results were compared with water quality standard prescribed by ISI/ICMR/WHO and an attempt has been made to find whether the quality of groundwater suitable for drinking purposes or not. Kinetic spectrophotometric determination of cefadroxil in pure substance and pharmaceutical dosage form

ABSTRACT: A simple, reliable and sensitive kinetic spectrophotometric method was developed for determination of cefadroxil in pure substance and dosage form by the product of two conjugate reactions of peroxoacidic oxidation and perhydrolysis in a basic medium using potassium peroxomonosulfate as analytical reagent (KHSO5). The initial rate method was used at 294 nm. Linearity was studied over concentration range 1-7 µ mL-1 and correlation coefficient was found to be 0.999 for regression line. The proposed method was validated statistically and checked through recovery studies.
