R&D growth and efficiency of scientific research development institutes in China


ABSTRACT:

With China tops global patent filings, Chinese innovation capability is coming in to the picture. However, is this real innovation capability of China? This paper calculates and analyzes the Annual Growth Rate of R&D inputs and outputs from Scientific Research and Development Institute (SRDI) in PR. China, covering the time period of 1999-2010. pointing out the existing questions and reasons. And then assesses the R&D efficiency of SRDI by using Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) method. The main contribution of this paper is that the activities of SRDI are analyzed from different perspectives and concludes that the total innovation capability of SRDI in China is exciting but the quality of outputs needs to be improved further in the future.

ABSTRACT : The quantitation of civetone and normuscone in small Indian civet (Viverricula indica Desmarest) secretion cultivated in Thailand was analyzed by gas chromatography- mass spectrometry (GC-MS). Three main chemical constituents of small Indian civet secretion were civetone, dihydrocivetone and normuscone. The contents of chemical constituents were different between male and female secretion. Civetone (23.6 ± 1.5 µg/mg of secretion) was a major chemical constituent in the female secretion while normuscone (52.1 ± 5.9 µg/mg of secretion) was a major in the male secretion. Both civetone and normuscone were found in civet fur but not in the feces. Aromatic remedies which claimed to use the small Indian civet secretion as an ingredient showed both civetone and normuscone. Linearity range of civetone was 0-50 µg/ml with a correlation coefficient of 0.9717, and of normuscone was 0-80 µg/ml with a correlation coefficient of 0.9965.   ABSTRACT : Most of the bacterial pathogens are resistant to existing synthetic antibacterial agents demanding an increasing effort to seek effective phytochemicals as antibacterial agents against such pathogens. Nigella sativa L. (black cumin) seeds play an important role in folk medicine and some of its major constituents are reported to be pharmacologically active. In this present work, Nigellasativa seed extracts were obtained using maceration extraction by various solvents (water, ethanol, methanol, and cyclohexan). Analysis of total phenols,total tannins and screening of phytocomponents in Indigofera aspalathoides (Shivanar Vembu) Vahl EX DC

ABSTRACT: The plant Indigofera aspalathoides is popularly known as Sivanar vembu in Tamil belongs to the family fabaceae. The stem is traditionally used for various skin disorders and cancer. In the traditional medicinal system, the leaves, flowers and tender shoot are said to be cooling and demulcent, they are used in the form of decoction for leprosy and cancer affections. Qualitative and quantitative Phytocomponents test were screened in Indigofera aspalathoides. The total content of some important phytochemical constituents like phenols, tannins of Indigofera aspalathoides by studied using spectrophotometric methods.
