Synthesis and biological screening of picric acid & p -amino phenol derivatives for anti-microbial activity


Abstract 

Certain picric acid and paracetamol derivatives have been synthesized in good yields and tested against E. Coli, S.areus, B.subtillis, S.citrus for anti-microbial activity and tested against A.niger, C.albicans for anti-fungal activity. Characterization of new compounds has been done by means of spectral data and elemental analysis.

ABSTRACT: The present study reports the phytochemical investigation of the roots of Grewia microcos linn. Seven Phytoconstituents have been reported namely 9,12- octadecadienoic acid; Ursolic acid; Stigmasterol; 6,4- dihydroxy-3-propen chalcone; Dioctyl phthalate; N-methyl-6-β-(1’,3’,5’-trienyl)-3-β-methoxyl-3-β-methyl piperidine; and Dibutyl phthalate have been reported for the first time from the roots of Grewia microcos. Effect of losartan potassium on the solubility of hydrochlorothiazide by solid dispersion technique

ABSTRACT: The present study was carried out to study the feasibility of a novel drug-drug solid dispersion for improving the dissolution of poorly soluble drugs. Hydrochlorothiazide - losartan potassium, which is a fixed dose combination and used for treatment of hypertension was selected as a model for the study. Hydrochlorothiazide is poorly soluble and its absorption is dissolution rate limited. Losartan potassium is freely soluble and used to effect solid dispersion of hydrochlorothiazide. Solid dispersion of hydrochlorothiazide-losartan potassium (1:4) was prepared by solvent evaporation method and evaluated by FTIR, X-ray diffraction and DSC analyses and in-vitro dissolution characteristics. The data were compared with that of physical mixture of hydrochlorothiazide and losartan potassium and of pure hydrochlorothiazide.
