Novel application and spectrophotometric estimation of Melitracen HCl tablet dosage form using Niacinamide as hydrotropic solubi lizing agent


Abstract 

Various organic solvents like methanol, chloroform,alcohol, dimethyl form amide; acetonitrile, hexane, acetone and carbon tetra chloride have been employed for stabilization of poorly water-soluble drugs for spectrophotometric estimations. Drawbacks of organic solvents include higher cost, toxicity and error in analysis due to volatility. Attempting to minimize these drawbacks, three new, simple, accurate, environmental friendly, cost effective, safe, sensitive spectrophotometric methods have been developed. Theprimary objective of the present investigation was to employ these hydrotropic solutions to extract the drugs from their dosage forms, precluding the use of costlier organic solvents. Ultraviolet absorption spectrophotometric method for the estimation of poorly water soluble drugs like Melitracen HCl in pharmaceutical formulations has been developed.

Evaluation of acrylate-sunflower oil copolymer as viscosity index improvers for lube oils

ABSTRACT: Copolymers of sunflower oil with methyl methacrylate and decyl acrylate were synthesized and characterized. Intrinsic viscosity and viscometric molecular weight were determined by using Huggins and Mark- Houwink equation respectively. Viscosity index (VI) of the additive doped base oils were evaluated and compared with that of the mineral base oils. VI values of the additive doped base oils depend on the nature of mineral base oils used and the type and concentration of VI improvers. For a comparison, respective homopolymers e.g. polymer of sunflower oil, poly(methyl methacrylate) and poly(decyl acrylate) were also prepared, characterized and evaluated in the similar fashion. Hepatoprotective and antioxidant efficacy of Anethum graveolens linn in carbon tetrachloride induced hepatotoxicity in albino rats

ABSTRACT: In the present study, the hepatoprotective and antioxidant efficacy of Anethum graveolens Linn was evaluated in CCl4 induced hepatotoxicity in albino rats. Hepatotoxicity was induced in albino rats by subcutaneous injection of carbon tetrachloride. Hepatoprotective efficiency of 100 mg/Kg wt of ethonalic extract of Anethum graveolens Linn was evaluated. Hepatotoxicity in experimental rats was evidenced by enhancement in the activity of SGOT, SGPT, MDA, & ALP and significant decrease in the activity of GSH, GPX, SOD & CAT. In plant extract treated animals, the toxicity effect of CCl4 was controlled significantly by restoration of the activity of above serum enzymes and antioxidant enzymes compared to the normal and standard drug silymarin treated groups. Therefore the results of present study support the hepatoprotective effect of Anethum graveolens Linn.
