Antipyretic activity of roots of Cicer arietinum Linn

ABSTRACT
Cicer arietinum Linn belonging to family Leguminosae is commonly used in the traditional system of medicine for the treatment of antibacterial, anti fungal, anti pyretic, anti diarrhoeal etc. In the present study, we investigated the anti pyretic activities of the Hydro alcoholic extract, acetone fraction and methanol fraction of the roots of this plant. The anti pyretic activity of the hydro alcoholic extract and its acetone and methanol fraction was studied based on the basis of their effect on Brewer’s yeast-induced pyrexia in rats.
