Physico-chemical study of ground water of some areas of Imphal City, Manipur


ABSTRACT:

Eight(8) ground water samples from Imphal City (5 belonging to Imphal East District and 3 belonging to Imphal West District) were analysed for physico-chemical parameters such as colour, odour, temperature,pH, conductivity, TDS (total dissolved solids), total hardness, calcium (Ca), magnesium (Mg) and chloride (Cl). Out of these eight samples, only one sample has parameters within desirable limits of BIS standards and fit for drinking purpose. However, in case of remaining seven samples, some parameters are within desirable limits while some other parameters are within permissible limit of BIS standards, showing that further treatments are required for these seven samples so as to keepthe parameters within desirable limits for drinking purpose mainly though all the samples are fit for other domestic and irrigation purposes.

ABSTRACT : The quantitation of civetone and normuscone in small Indian civet (Viverricula indica Desmarest) secretion cultivated in Thailand was analyzed by gas chromatography- mass spectrometry (GC-MS). Three main chemical constituents of small Indian civet secretion were civetone, dihydrocivetone and normuscone. The contents of chemical constituents were different between male and female secretion. Civetone (23.6 ± 1.5 µg/mg of secretion) was a major chemical constituent in the female secretion while normuscone (52.1 ± 5.9 µg/mg of secretion) was a major in the male secretion. Both civetone and normuscone were found in civet fur but not in the feces. Aromatic remedies which claimed to use the small Indian civet secretion as an ingredient showed both civetone and normuscone.   ABSTRACT : Most of the bacterial pathogens are resistant to existing synthetic antibacterial agents demanding an increasing effort to seek effective phytochemicals as antibacterial agents against such pathogens. Nigella sativa L. (black cumin) seeds play an important role in folk medicine and some of its major constituents are reported to be pharmacologically active. In this present work, Nigellasativa seed extracts were obtained using maceration extraction by various solvents (water, ethanol, methanol, and cyclohexan). Analysis of total phenols,total tannins and screening of phytocomponents in Indigofera aspalathoides (Shivanar Vembu) Vahl EX DC

ABSTRACT: The plant Indigofera aspalathoides is popularly known as Sivanar vembu in Tamil belongs to the family fabaceae. The stem is traditionally used for various skin disorders and cancer. In the traditional medicinal system, the leaves, flowers and tender shoot are said to be cooling and demulcent, they are used in the form of decoction for leprosy and cancer affections. Qualitative and quantitative Phytocomponents test were screened in Indigofera aspalathoides. The total content of some important phytochemical constituents like phenols, tannins of Indigofera aspalathoides by studied using spectrophotometric methods.
