Formulation Design of Fast Dissolving Tablets of Granisetron Using Effervescent Blend with Improved Efficacy

ABSTRACT In the present work, fast dissolving tablets of granisetron HCl were prepared by effervescent method with a view to enhance patient compliance .Croscarmellose sodium is used as a superdisintigrant along with blend of sodium bicarbonate, anhydrous citric acid and tartaric acid in different ratios (as effervescent material)were used and directly compressible mannitol (Pearlitol SD 200) to enhance mouth feel. The prepared batches of tablets were evaluated for hardnss.

The assessment of etiology in with end – stage renal disease adult hemodialysis patients and blood serum albumin levels

Image
ABSTRACT Hemodialysis is a commonly used treatment for renal failure when a kidney has lost its ability to regulate fluids, electrolytes, acid/base balance and toxin removal from the blood. It helps the kidneys to excrete wastes and maintains the electrolyte balance in approximately 90% of end – stage renal disease (ESRD) patients. Albumin consists of one polypeptide chain of 585 amino acids and contains 17 disulfide bonds. Hypoalbuminemia is associated with mortality in patients with ESRD and maintaining optimum albumin levels iscrutial in on hemodialysis (HD).

Assessing the effectiveness of the non-polar extract of Crotalariaretusain the control and management of the flea beetle, [Podagrica uniformis(L)] on okro, [Abelmoschus esculentus(L) moench]

Image
ABSTRACT Five formulations made from the non-polar extracts of C. retusa have been used as test agents on the flea beetles (P. uniformis). The effectiveness of each formulation (prepared by using Omo detergent solution and petroleum ether) was assessed by the estimation of the number of okro leaf discs (dipped in the respective formulations) eaten by P. uniformis and their mortality within the experimental period. The results of this study have showed that, non-polar constituents of the extract of C. retusa have antifeedant properties onflea beetles since they significantly reduced the feeding of P. uniformis on Okro leaf discs.

Antimicrobial Activity of Earthworm Extracts

Image
ABSTRACT Earthworm plays a major role in the proper functioning of the soil ecosystem. It acts as scavenger and helps in recycling of dead and decayed plant material by feeding on them. Earthworm increases the soil fertility and is often referred to as a farmer’s friend. Earthworms have been used in medicine for various remedies. In the present investigation, various solvent extracts of an earthworm, Eudrilus eugeniae were prepared and antimicrobial activity of these extracts were determined by well diffusion method.

Formulation Development and Characterization of Ace clofenac Gel Using Poloxamer 407

Image
ABSTRACT Poloxamer 407 is used primarily as a thickening agent and gel former, but also as a co-emulsifier and consistency enhancer in creams and liquid emulsions. It is also used as a solubilizer for certain active substances Moreover, Poloxamer 407 is suitable for the formulation of active substances that show reduced solubility as a result of neutralization. Poloxamer 407 is reported to possess transparency, film forming properties and useful in formation of gel. The aceclofenac gels were prepared by using different concentration of Poloxamer 407 for topical drug delivery with an objective to increase transparency and spreadability.

Pressure dependence of Gruneisen parameter of some transition metals

Image
ABSTRACT Comparison of seismic velocities in mantle metals under mantle conditions with seismic data is the first step towards constraining mantle chemistry. The calculation, however, is uncertain due to lack of data on certain physical properties. The Grüneisen parameter ( γ ) is of much importance regarding to the physical properties of mantle metals, because it sets limitations on the thermo elastic properties of the lower mantle and core at different compression ratio.
