Synthesis of 3-hydroxy desloratadine, the hydroxyl metabolite of loratadine

ABSTRACT : Allergic rhinitis (AR) is an IgE-mediated disease that can impact the quality of life and work of affected individuals. Antihistamines were introduced more than 50 years ago for the treatment of AR. They can be classified into three groups. First-generation antihistamines such as promethazine and ketotifen are clinically effective, but they have a considerably limited use by their sedative and anticholinergic effects. Second-generation antihistamines such as cetirizine, loratadine1 and mizolastine have significantly fewer sedative and anticholinergic effects than first-generation. New generation antihistamines include fexofenadine, levocetirizine, desloratadine2 and rupatadine. While many of these agents were largely devoid of CNS (central nervous system) side effects, their tendency for drug-drug interactions (e.g., terfenadine and astemizole) resulted in an increase incidence of cardiotoxicity. Furthermore, some of the second-generation H1 antagonists exhibited weak...

Theoretical study of Sb-doped Se90In10 glassy system

ABSTRACT : The effect of antimony (Sb) addition in SeIn glassy system is theoretically studied, and important physical properties, such as average coordination number, lone pair electrons, fragility parameter, heat of atomization, mean bond energy and optical band gap are evaluated in addition to thermal stability. The values of average coordination number and heat of atomization were found to increase with increasing Sb content, while the other properties were in decrease. By adding more Sb atoms, the glassy system becomes less stable thermally. According to the number of zero-frequency mode per atom, which was in decrease, the Phillips’-Thorpe threshold cannot be realized for the considered glassy system. The production efficiency is calculated with the C 2R model (D0) e ; the pure technical efficiency is calculated with the C 2GS2 model (D1); the returns to scale are analyzed with the C 2GS2 model (F1) and the C2R model (H0) e ; the efficiency benchmark is selected with the SE-DEA model. Finally, pertinent policy recommendations are proposed to the enterprises that don't reach the optimal efficiency according to their input redundancy and output deficiency. Correlation analysis on water resources utilization and the sustainable development of economy in Minqin of Gansu Province

ABSTRACT: This paper analyze the relativity of water resources utilization in Minqin and economic sustainable development adopting optimal multiple regressions. The results show that: 1There is remarkable correlation between the economic growth and the demand of water resources. On condition that the sustainable development of economy is satisfied, the growth of rural population is a huge pressure on water resources. It is an appropriate measure to coordinate the environmental protection and social economic development that reducing the consumption of water for rural population or accelerating the process of urbanization and developing forestry and animal husbandry. 2) Increasing urban population and developing industry and modern farming can promote our economic growth at the same time reduce the pressure on water resources significantly. 3) 97.5% of the variation in the total water requirement of Minqin is caused by two variables-“animal husbandry output value” and “rural popu...

Chemical composition and antioxidant activity of essential oils and solvent extracts of Foeniculum vulgare Mill. from Morocco

Image
ABSTRACT : The aim of this work was to characterize the essential oils and solvent extracts of Foeniculum vulgare Mill. from Morocco in terms of chemical composition and antioxidative activity. Analysis of the essential oil of F. vulgare was carried out using gas chromatography (GC) and gas chromatography-mass spectral (GC-MS). The main components were limonene (20.8%) and β-pinene (17.8%), followed by myrcene (15.0%) and fenchone (12.5%). The antioxidant activities of this aromatic plant were evaluated using a DPPH test system to suggest it as a new potential source of natural antioxidants. The amounts of phenolic and flavonoid compounds of solvent extracts (diethyl ether and ethyl acetate) were determined spectrometrically. Furthermore, Th e DPPH scavenging activity of extracts increased in the order essential oil < diethyl ether extract < ethyl acetate extract < ascorbic acid. Finally, a relationship was observed between the antioxidant activity potential and total p...

Simultaneous estimation of gatifloxacin and flurbiprofen sodium in ophthalmic formulation by UV- specrophotometric method

ABSTRACT : A UV- Spectrophotometric method has been developed for the determination of Gatifloxacin and Flurbiprofen Sodium in their pharmaceutical formulation. The wavelength method involved solving simultaneous equations based on measurement of absorbance at two maximum wavelengths 245 nm and 293 nm for Flurbiprofen Sodium and Gatifloxacin respectively. The method was validated for various parameter according to ICH guideline. The linear regression analysis data for the calibration plots showed good linear relationship in the concentration range of 6 - 18 µg/ml and 0.6 – 1.8 µg/ml and correlation. Research on the ultra-weak luminescence of maize seeds

Image
ABSTRACT : The ultra-weak luminescence (UWL) feature of plant seeds is investigated. Before UWL measurement, the maize seeds are moistened in distilled water for various periods, which are 2h, 4h, 6h and 8h. And then the seeds are dried to the mass they had before moistened. The UWL measurements are made before and after distilled water injects into measured samples. A kind of double exponential function is proved fitting the tested data well as the coefficient of determination of fitting is above 0.97. It is observed that UWL properties of different samples have obvious regularities. The dry seeds contain a large number of hydrophilic pores, so water quickly permeates into maize seeds and forces the seeds to produce stress UWL after water injection. The intensity of UWL depends on the structure of seeds and the time of moistening. Over a period of time, the different UWL intensity of samples decays to the same level as the seeds without moistening. The study results contribute ...
